History of this song
About a week or so after 7/7, I was grieving deeply over the loss of my dear Benny. I looked through old emails between us and one of them particularly caught my attention. Benny sent me the lyrics to a song by Chicago "If you leave me now" and written in the subject line was "song for u-i was listening to it and thinking of u". At that moment I just began writing my own track for Benny based on that song we both loved so much – it just felt so right to do. I have never written lyrics for a song before so it was all new to me. I was put in contact with a professional singer on a cruise ship and she sang the lyrics on the ship’s studio. Soon the song was mixed with a backing track and mastered back at my house by my brother. The song I had in my head had become reality. Now its freely available for download from this site. Although these is no charge for this song, donations are appreciated towards the award set up by Benny's university, Birkbeck, in her memory.
